Disabled Teen Victim of "Mercy Killing"
December 31, 2005
The case of Dr. Nathan Kessler, a veterinarian charged with murder, gained a strange twist today with the revelation that the disabled youth had been the victim of a "mercy killing" according to police documents obtained by A.W.O.W.
Kessler was charged last week with murder of Jamie Halsbrener, a fifteen year old girl who lived in St. Peters with her parents. She is believed to have had some kind of extreme disability that required constant care, though the exact nature of her condition is uncertain.
Though police have been unusually tight-lipped about the case, documents indicate that the parents of the teenager, Samuel and Dorothy Halsbrener, are being considered "persons of interest" in the investigation.
The parents have not been charged with any crime.
